So I went to see Harold and Kumar: Escape from Guantanamo Bay last night. Quite the funny =^.^=
The movie while absolutely hilarious, pushed many, many boundaries. I don't want to go into too many details for fear of spoiling anything, but I must really recommend it to anyone that likes foul mouthed, pot head type movies. 2 thumbs up to say the least!
Later on tonight, I'm going out to Macaroni Grill for
antimon's birthday dinner. That'll be the yum.

OMG, OMG!! What a movie!
Jesus, I said it like 5 times yesterday and I will say it again! That movie was 20 times better than it had a right to be! I mean, a live action transformers movie? Directed by Michael Bay? Hmmmmm, could be worth a netflix rental... *MAYBE*
But I got to go for free thanks to
antimon, so I was not going to say no to an excuse to get out of the house, and I'm damn glad I went!
No spoilers here, but really, I should be able to give you the entire plot since you've seen it at least twice already, and if you haven't, stop jerking your dick and go and see it!
The few changes from cannon to the movie are quite incidental and really do not detract from either. So those who are bitching about bumblebee being a camarro, or those that didn't like Optimus having a moving mouth, just STFU already and revel in the intense action. The CGI was excellent and totally convincing, and the human military stuff from the beginning of the movie was 98% spot on; a 1st I believe in Hollywood history.
It was intense, it was action-packed, and felt like only an hour long despite being 2 1/4 hrs. GO SEE IT!

Thier song "Face Down" is just awesome! I love the sound, the deeper meanign to the lyrics, and the video is expertly done and cool to watch! The song and the video are up on thier website and unlike most of todays bannds, thier site is easy to navigate and wont make your eyes bleed :)

In other news, it appears that Stargate SG1 is ending for good at the conclusion of this, thier tenth season. 215 total episodes encompass the longest running Sci-Fi T.V. show, and what a blast those final 15 are going to be!
Atlantis is getting a 4th season, and I for one hope they roll some of the SG1 characters to Atlantis, but only time will tell...

You know, I love Firefly. I have loved it since the first time I saw it, which sad to say wasnt when it originally aired on fox in '02. But I fell in love with the feel of it; the setting, the earthy characters, the low techiness of the hi tech far future. Joss certainly nailed this series right on.
Its an utter shame that the network was so short sighted to have canceled the series after so few episodes, but thats fox for you. And while they did finance Serenity, it was non of thier idea. Almost single handedly did Joss and the Firefly fandom bring it about. And for that I am greatfull to all that love Firefly as much as I do, for we all spoke with one voice, loud enough to pierce the misconception that Firefly couldnt be profitable.
So, the point of this little monologue is Serenity. Just today I watched it twice, though when i first went down stairs, Firefly wasnt even on my mind. While flipping through the channels, I found Serenity On Demand, and watched this wonderful work of art. But it wasnt enough! I got the DVD out and watched the extras, and for a while all was right in the verse. Mal still had a soft spot for his crew, Jayne was still Jayne, and Kaylee was as beautiful and sexy as ever.
After I watched the extras, i listened to the DVD commentary, which those of you who know me would know its something I almost never do. I found myself wanting to hear Joss's explanation of the two most controversial parts of the film. Unfortunately Joss let me down in this case... His explanations just did not sit well with me, and were done for what I believe less than noble causes.
( Spoilers for those that havent seen Serenity (whats wrong with you BTW?) yet )

Just watched a supposedly Sci-fi movie on The Movie Channel called Final Encounter. Very interesting back story and character types, yet as the title of this post surmises, very poorly scripted. Bad acting, no clear character motivations, and no explanation of the goals or subtlies of the technology orplot twists.
Basically it goes something like this: In the far future, some 450 years from now, corporations were given the green light for intergalatic colonization. Earth could not support the popluation and the governments knew they didnt have the resources to attempt such a titanic program.
On this stories specific planet, as yet unnamed, two rival corporations of different 'Old Earth' nationalities, landed together and founded colonies. At first it was hard, skilled workers like scientists, engineers, and the like didnt really know how to grow their own food, or protect themselves from the native wildlife.
So the colonies allied, hoping for a new begining of Mankind; forever foreswearing the warlike habits of the 'Old World.' However, it wasnt long before the rival corporations began industrial espienouge and sabotuge. With in a few short years, a fierce state of war exissted and rage for well over 100 years.
During this long and futile fight, many soliders were slain, and ever younger recruits were pushed into service untill the combat ready age was just 14 years old. Children trained all of their lives to become soldiers for the Cause.
Males were dedicated as ground soliders, grunts and pilots, tankers and special ops teams, while the females made use of powerful 'Decker Kits' which were basically computers with holographic transmitters that allowed them to hack distant systems, but also to form 3 dimensional contructs made up of focused force fields in a limited range. These they shaped into frigthening instruments of utter carnage.
The premise of it all is quite intriging, something very much like cyber punk, but in the real world as opposed to the cyber world. It could make for a very interesting RPG I think :)
