Cold is...

  • Dec. 7th, 2009 at 10:15 PM
Cold is having to replace a battery to a truck that won't start in subzero weather in the dark.

Also, I've got my recitation for class tomorrow morning. I'll be playing Jimi Hendrix's cover of Bob Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower" and relating it to environmental politics. Wish me luck!!

Notification System

  • Dec. 7th, 2009 at 1:15 PM
Hey Guys,

Unfortunately with our last release, and its instability, we were forced to roll back releases. Unfortunately in doing so, it would seem that our notification system has been broken somehow. Our engineers are working on this issue as quickly as possible. We hope to have a patch within the next day, so we can deploy our code and fix the notification system at the same time. Please *bear* with us ;)

Currently all notifications are being queued up so they can be processed as soon as the fix is pushed and verified to be working correctly.

Thank you,

Good morning

OOOOHHHHH WE'RE HALFWAY THE-ERE!

  • Dec. 5th, 2009 at 1:26 AM
WOAH-HOH! LIVIN' ON A PRAYER! TAKE MY HAND, WE'LL MAKE IT I SWE-EAR!

No we won't. But seriously, I've been to just over half of the US states now - mainly because of this summer. That's kind of awesome. I'm hoping to go through North Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin on my way back to North Carolina this summer, then maybe through Colorado and Arizona on my way back to Texas for Christmas - just to say I've been to them. Also want to head through South Carolina on my way from Texas to North Carolina for New Years. New England and Florida I'll hopefully get to someday, and I want to take a motorcycle trip through the Southwest one year.

America's a beautiful place - I'm grateful I've had the opportunity to see so much, and that all I've seen has reaffirmed that there's no better place to be. At least for me as an American, anyway.

My friend's Live set

  • Dec. 4th, 2009 at 2:27 PM

Hey guys, this's a recent live mix from one of my ladyfriends
in canananada. She's pretty goddamn amazing, I can't believe I
even know someone as awesome as she is. I don't think anyone
I know has introduced me to more fantastic music than she has.

So if you've got a thing for sexy, dirty, ass shakin heavy ass
electronica, then this is for you [attn: Dax, Rusty, Jill, etc]:

"Last Saturday I was invited down to drop a set for the Ottawa
bass party Soulselecta, and I recorded the 90 minute affair.

This mix here is all about bass-heavy dancing. Crank this way
up, and make sure your subwoofer is tweaked. We're going from
house to deep to dubstep to jungle."

MogileFS Maintenance

  • Dec. 2nd, 2009 at 12:18 PM
**EDIT Thu Dec 3 23:24:15 UTC 2009 **

Hey Everyone, we are about to run the last alter job that we need to on our database servers. This will effect userpics / scrapbook / vgift images for the next few hours. Have no fear, your images aren't lost, there is just a really intensive process running on the servers which store the information for mogilefs. Thank you for your understanding and all the LJ love...

Hey LJers,

I just wanted to let you all know that we are going to be performing some mogilefs maintenance over the next few days. We will be upgrading our current version to latest stable as well as changing some db config information to better handle the amount of files we are currently hosting. This shouldn't cause a big impact on site stability, but you may see some minor delays with userpic / scrapbook images appearing or other requests associated with our mogilefs. We would love to not have that happen, but unfortunately with some of the steps we need to take we have to cause a delay with images. I figured this was a better solution than taking down all of LiveJournal because well lets face it, we all need our daily LJ fix ;)

Thanks,

Hi, I'm Bill.

I'm a fuck. I'm brash, blunt, hate sugar-coating things for the benefit of protecting someone's ego or self esteem, am fiercely loyal, and can be the shoulder to cry on and the voice of reason - both at the same time!

I live in Tampa, on Davis Islands in specific. I leave Tampa a lot because I love to travel. I don't really do the whole furmeet thing; I prefer to meet furries one-on-one, since I need to ensure that I can smoke around them and it's rude to subject a large group to my nicotine addiction all at one time.

I'm a fuck, and this is just a head's up.

Bombshell & times a changing at work

  • Dec. 1st, 2009 at 3:13 AM
Well, things are changing at work, not sure if it's good or bad yet, still too many unanswered questions. Bottom line though is we had a meeting this mornig and found out that the overnight techncial call center positions of which I am a part of are being migrated to aother group, ATS Business technical support. Ultiamtly what this means is my possition is eliminated, but I am still employed. They created 11 new possitions in the group taking over overnight, and they are in the same building, so I can apply for one of those, and I may or may not get over night in that group as they handle comercial accounts 24/7, only residential at nigh, or I can stay as a product support person in HSD and take a daytime shift as those are the only positions that group will now occupy. The business positions, if overnight are all 4x10 4 10 hour shifts, Either way you look at it my days off, hours and possibly duties are changing as is my salery. What direction and hwo much is all up in the air. Ultimatly this may be a blessign in disugess and I may get a better lot then I have now, but there is a lot of competition out there both for the good shifts and the new positions. it will be an interesting few months as the peices start to land. This affects everythung because depending on my shift and days off will determine how effectivly I can use my allocated vacation days, if My days off don't fall right, each tip will require me to burn through more vacation meaning I can do less. If I do not get ATS (requires an application and review process) and I lose Sunday shift & night differential, I'm looking at a signifigant pay cut but If I go to ATS I get a pretty good pay boost with or without Sunday. If I can land a second shift spot in my current department with a sunday shift, it should just about balence out especially with the upcomign end of year raise.

The biggest question and msot difficult to plan for is transportation to work. Depending on where all the chips fall, I might not be able to continue to car pool with my room mate and with the new house I'm too far to effectibly get to work under my own power.

Hoping for the best, but time will tell. this month and next is when we apply and do the shift bids with an efective date feb 6th

Orlando area request

  • Nov. 30th, 2009 at 9:58 PM
Hello, My name is Kazer.

Currently I am looking to move to the Orlando area. In order for this to be accomplished, I need a place to live. So from that, I am requesting a possible roommate situation. At my current state, I need confirmation. Basically I need someone to give me an o.k. for having me live with them with all the details (I.E. rent cost, etc.). Once that is established, I will begin searching for jobs in whatever area you live in. If I interest any opportunity's you may have, or if you have questions about this then respond here (comments are screened), or aim (Kazer Dragonwolf) me. Thanks for reading ^_^
